If your pet is experiencing an eye problem, your vet may recommend a referral to Clarity Referrals for specialist ophthalmic evaluation and treatment. We’re here to make the process as smooth and reassuring as possible for both you and your pet.
We believe that specialist care should never feel rushed. Every appointment at Clarity Referrals is designed to give your pet time to settle, especially if they’re feeling anxious or stressed. We also want to give you the time and space to share your concerns, ask questions, and feel heard.
Our consultations are intentionally longer than standard veterinary appointments. This allows us to:
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time so we can get your pet checked in calmly and without rush.
We always build in extra time to ensure your pet receives the calm, compassionate, and thorough care they deserve.
In most cases, your pet can have breakfast as normal on the morning of the appointment.
However, if there’s a chance they may need sedation or anaesthesia (for example, for detailed imaging or certain procedures), we might ask that they come in fasted — meaning no food for 8–10 hours beforehand.
If you’re unsure whether your pet should be starved, or if you’re concerned about skipping a meal, please feel free to give us a call. We’re always happy to talk it through and advise you based on your pet’s specific situation.
At Clarity Referrals, we want your visit to feel calm, supportive, and informative — never rushed. Your pet’s appointment is designed to give us the time and space to fully understand their condition and to ensure you feel confident about every step forward.
During the consultation, you can expect:
We take special care to create a low-stress environment, particularly for nervous pets. We’ll always adapt our pace to make the experience as comfortable as possible for both you and your pet.
If your pet needs further diagnostics or a surgical procedure, we’ll talk everything through with you in detail.
In many cases, we can carry out additional tests or surgery on the same day, depending on your pet’s condition and the day’s schedule. When appropriate, we may suggest booking a follow-up appointment instead — giving your pet time to rest and you time to prepare, both practically and emotionally.
Most pets go home the same day. If your pet receives sedation or anaesthesia, they may need to stay with us for a few extra hours of observation — and occasionally, for overnight monitoring if needed.
Whatever the plan, you’ll be kept informed every step of the way, and we’ll ensure you have clear guidance for care at home.
